GRADE 3B+, MEDIUM PACE

This is a catch up hike for the 13 Peaks challenge but Louise is opening it up for any club members to join. Our hike will follow the gentle path along the Lion's rump to the northern slopes of Lion's Head. After a brief visit to the Kramat and the restored cannons, we'll ascend Lion's Head from the north. Our descent route will be the normal route (if this has reopened) otherwise we will retrace our steps to the contour path. Our route for the day will end at the Platteklip Gorge trailhead. The hike is about 11 km with 700 m elevation gain. Those not catching up the 13 Peaks Challenge section can end the hike at the bottom of Lion's Head. Car shuttling or Uber will be necessary.
Please earmark the Sunday as an alternative hiking day in case of predicted poor weather on the Saturday.
Bookings open 2 months before the hike. Bookings close the Thursday before the hike at 18h00. No smoking on the hike.
