GRADE 3B, MEDIUM PACE
Part 11/12: With the end in sight, today we'll hike up Newlands Ravine with its beautiful views and cross over the saddle to Devil's Peak, our 13th peak. On the way, we'll pause at Pulpit Rock to look back over the route we have taken in the past 7 months. After summiting Devil's Peak, we'll descend the normal zig zag path to Tafelberg Road. Although it is only 7 kms today, the elevation gain is 900 m and the loss is 600 m. Car shuttling or Uber will be necessary.
About the 13 peaks: trail runner Ryan Sandes developed a circular route that covers 13 iconic peaks in Cape Town. We will complete the challenge over 7 months. All hikes are open to everyone, whether or not you are doing the challenge. Since not everyone will be available for every peak, Helen will set up a dedicated WhatsApp group for those doing the challenge to coordinate catch up hikes.
Please earmark the Saturday as an alternative hiking day if poor weather is forecast on the Sunday.
Bookings open 2 months before the hike. Bookings close the Friday before the hike at 18h00. No smoking on the hike.
