GRADE 4B, MEDIUM PACE

Part 8/11: We have a gentle start to the day with the Silvermine River walk. Once at the dam we will take the route up Constantiaberg that leads us past the Elephant's Eye Cave. Once at the top of Constantiaberg, we'll make our way down to Constantia Nek via firstly the radio mast road and then through beautiful Vlakkenberg on the Hoerikwaggo Trail. The views from this side of the mountain looking north are spectacular. The route today is 14 km with 665 m elevation gain and 740 m loss. Car shuttling will be necessary.
About the 13 peaks: trail runner Ryan Sandes developed a circular route that covers 13 iconic peaks in Cape Town. We will complete the challenge over 7 months. All hikes are open to everyone, whether or not you are doing the challenge. Since not everyone will be available for every peak, Helen will set up a dedicated WhatsApp group for those doing the challenge to coordinate catch up hikes.
Please earmark the Sunday as an alternative hiking day if poor weather is forecast on the Saturday.
