Steam train return trip to the Elgin Railway market:
Join us for an unforgettable journey as we travel on an 80 year old steam train! The Elgin Railway Market is within an old apple warehouse converted into a bustling Steampunk, Art Deco market. It boasts local food and craft vendors, live music and is the gateway to the beautiful Elgin Valley. The original building was built in the 1940’s by Italian prisoners of war. The concrete tapered columns and curved box gutters bear testimony to the skill of those bygone craftsmen. It has been extensively renovated into a showpiece well worth a visit.
Itinerary:
We depart at 08h05 from Cape Town (at the train platform near the AC Hotel by Marriot, Dockrail Road, Foreshore) and travel for 3.5 hours to Elgin Market. We spend approximately two hours at the market, and head back to Cape Town arriving at 17h45.
